Here we are with the new Countess of Mondeval.

You all know who Princess Giorgia of Lesina is, but what most of you probably don’t know is that, since October 1, 2018, her title has actually changed. Giorgia Isabella Sofia Marin di Lesina, the stylish daughter of the Marquess and Marchioness of Lesina has been holding the title of Princess of Lesina since her birthas tradition for all female children of the Head of the House of Marin and for his grandchildren.

On 1st October her grandfather, Prince Umberto, 15th Count of Marin, created her Countess of Mondeval, a title of the Princely House of Marin in disuse since 1854. The last person holding this title was Princess Bianca of Lesina, only daughter of the 11th Count of Marin, Prince Giuseppe, who died childless.

So, the official title of Princess Giorgia has now changed and it is: Her Illustrious Highness Princess Giorgia of Lesina, Countess of Mondeval.

As you all know Giorgia’s family was a family of the Holy Roman Empire coming from Spain, as her ancestor Fernando of Castile and Mendoza, 1st Count of Marin, a grandson of Henry IV of Castile and his wife Joana of Portugal, and a great-grandson of Edward I of Portugal and Eleanor of Aragon. As Spain is a monarchy which confers and recognises hereditary titles of nobility, the right of Giorgia to the prefix of princess and to the style of Illustrious Highness is legal—not a courtesy title; in Italy, as monarchy was abolished, and with it all titles of nobility, their styles and titles are courtesy titles.

In Spain she is officially known as: Su Alteza Ilustrísima la princesa doña Giorgia Marin de Lesina y Bragato, condesa de Mondeval, princesa de Lesina, princesa titular del Sacro Imperio Romano.
